Yaket — reversible jackets woven from Tibetan yak wool

In Spring and early Summer in the Himalayas in Tibet, it is harvest time.

Tibetans are busy combing the coats of their yaks, domesticated oxen, gathering the precious down fiber or hair the yaks shed this time of year.

The finest hair is spun into wool and dyed using natural dyes, creating a rainbow of vibrant, vivid colors. The wool is then woven into fabric which will become a YAKET.

How does yak wool compare to cashmere and merino?

Yak wool is softer than cashmere and warmer than merino. It is also thermo-regulating, helping keep your body heat constant.

Can I wear a Yaket if I am allergic to wool?

Yes. Yak wool is anti-allergenic, so a Yaket is a good choice for people who are allergic to wool.

How do I wash a Yaket?

Yakets can be hand or machine washed in cold water on a delicate setting.
